How Kunal Weekends in Flagstaff: Trails, Brews & That Guinness at Collins

Mountains, Meals, and Magic!

Flagstaff gives me everything I love — fresh air, great trails, a killer local food scene, and chill breweries to wind down with friends. It’s home, and it never gets old.
If I’ve got a full weekend here, I always kick things off with breakfast at Northern Pines. Big portions, great coffee, and when the patio’s open, my dog is right there by my side.
After that, I usually head out to Humphreys Peak. It’s a solid hike — about 10 miles round trip with some serious elevation gain — but once you hit the summit, the views make every step worth it.

Once we’re off the mountain, it’s straight to Diablo Burger for lunch. That English muffin bun, the local beef, the fries — I’m telling you, it’s unbeatable. After refueling, I like to slow things down with a stop at Mother Road Brewing. It’s mellow, super dog-friendly, and there’s always someone around to chat with while you enjoy a pint.

From Tee to Table: How I Do Flagstaff Weekends

Kunal

From wing nights and UFC fights to first chair and fresh powder — live it all.

Saturday night’s all about Dirty Birdies. We’ll meet up with friends, order a ridiculous amount of wings — I’m a garlic parm guy, but you can’t miss the mango-habanero — catch the UFC fights, play a few rounds of pool. It’s the kind of place where you just post up and settle in. You don’t need to bounce around — it’s all there.

Sunday mornings are for fresh tracks. If there’s snow, I’m heading up to Arizona Snowbowl early. First chair is a must — there’s something about carving into untouched powder that just resets your brain. Once it warms up, I swap the snowboard for my mountain bike. Schultz Pass Loop is a classic, but Meteor Crater Trail and Big Bang are my go-to when I want something a little more intense. After boarding (or biking), MartAnne’s Breakfast Palace is the move for brunch. Their chilaquiles and strong coffee hit different after a few hours on the mountain.

Flagstaff weekends: good food, great vibes, no rush.

For lunch, I’ll usually head back downtown to Lumberyard Brewing Co.. The food’s great, the crowd’s always good energy, and it’s just one of those classic Flagstaff spots. In the afternoon, we usually find ourselves at Rendezvous at the Monte Vista Hotel. It’s a little moodier, laid-back, with great cocktails and couches you can sink into. Perfect way to wind things down.
Dinner Sunday night? Asia Station, hands down. Their drunken noodles are my comfort food — and if I’m hungrier than usual, I’ll throw in the beef and broccoli too. It’s casual, consistent, and totally hits the spot after a full weekend.

Before heading back to real life Monday morning, I like to swing by Brandy’s Café for one last breakfast. If they’ve got one of their cinnamon rolls in the pastry case, it’s coming with me — no question.
Flagstaff’s one of those places where you don’t have to plan too hard. You just fall into the rhythm. It’s the kind of weekend that feels full but never rushed — and that’s exactly why I love it.
